Luke Smashes His Work Experience at Tesco Extra!

Luke, a member at The Boaz Project near Winchester, recently completed a work experience placement at Tesco Extra in Winnall through our Hands Together supported work placement scheme. Supported throughout by Boaz volunteer Sharon, Luke brought his good humour, can-do attitude and ability to every session, and set the bar very high for everyone who follows.

Lucy Burgess, Community Champion at Tesco Extra, said: “Luke was a pleasure to have in store working. He always came in with great enthusiasm and energy. He responded well to colleagues and customers and went about his tasks with such positivity. We wish him well in the future and any company would be lucky to have him.“

Hands Together is our supported work placement programme for adults with learning disabilities. Boaz members take on a six-week work experience placement with a local business or organisation, with a closely matched Boaz volunteer supporting them one-to-one from start to finish.

It’s a chance to try a real job, build confidence and experience the everyday rhythm of a workplace: arriving for a shift, working as part of a team and chatting with colleagues and customers.

Hands Together sits alongside everything else our members enjoy at Hill Farm in Sutton Scotney. Boaz offers adults with learning disabilities meaningful work, community and friendship, in a setting where every member is valued for what they bring.
