Our core beliefs

These three principles (plus a lot of Christian faith and prayer) underpin who we are and what we do at Boaz. Individuals of all faiths and none are welcome. We just ask everyone to respect each other and the beliefs outlined here.

Everyone is created in the image of God

As a Christian charity, we believe that everyone is created in the image of God to be valued and respected (Genesis 1 v26-27). We celebrate people with learning disabilities and those who are neurodiverse. Many Boaz members have felt excluded from mainstream work and worship. Just as we give people real work tasks, so there is also the opportunity to pray and hear God’s word from the Bible at Boaz.

Work is a gift from God

We believe in the power of meaningful work to give people dignity, purpose and a fresh sense of their place in the world (Genesis 2 v15 and 1 v28). Depriving people of access to work diminishes them as human beings. Boaz helps rebuild people’s identity and self-worth through work.

We are built for relationships

We believe people are built for relationships rather than living alone – (Genesis 2 v18). We believe in a diverse, accepting and inclusive community.

Fact box:

Do you know why one petal in the Boaz flower logo is a different colour? This symbolises how we may feel different from those around us but when we come together for a purpose, we can be part of something bigger and more beautiful than any one individual alone.
