LD Discovery Day Inspires and Informs – with a Great Turnout

The Boaz Project’s first-ever Discovery Day, held on Tuesday 27 May 2025 at Hill Farm in Sutton Scotney, proved to be a resounding success, drawing visitors from across Hampshire and beyond. The event was designed to help adults with learning disabilities explore opportunities available after leaving education—and judging by the turnout, there’s a real appetite for connection, guidance and hope.
Stalls from more than ten local organisations offering work-based training, social activities, and further education were kept busy throughout the day, as families, carers and potential service users came to explore what’s on offer in the region. The Boaz Project itself, which provides farm-based day services, also opened its gates to showcase its own range of activities including gardening, woodwork, animal care, and crafts.
Boaz manager Stuart Palmer said:
“We know how challenging the transition out of education can be. Our aim with this event was to show people that there are opportunities—and that no one needs to face this journey alone. The response has been fantastic.”
Despite an overcast start, spirits were high and the atmosphere was welcoming and lively. From donkey walks to live music and a cheerful raffle, there was plenty of fun to balance out the information-sharing. The plant stall and refreshment stand were particularly popular—and the Boaz car parking team were kept on their toes managing the steady stream of visitors throughout the day.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many families expressing gratitude for the chance to speak face-to-face with multiple service providers in one place.
Boaz hopes the Discovery Day will become a regular event and encourages anyone interested in future opportunities to get in touch.
