At Boaz, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and feel valued for who they are. That’s why we’re so excited to be developing a new initiative focused on creating work placements for adults with learning disabilities — with every participant supported on a one-to-one basis by a dedicated Boaz volunteer.

For many of the people we support, gaining real-life work experience can be life-changing. It’s not just about learning new skills – it’s about building confidence, forming relationships, and feeling part of the wider community. A welcoming workplace can open doors that might otherwise feel out of reach.

As we approach our 20th anniversary year, we are looking to expand our work by partnering with local businesses and organisations to offer supported work placements.

Through the Hands Together initiative, we’re connecting the people we support with local employers who are willing to offer work placements. These placements don’t have to be complicated or long-term – they simply need to be supportive environments where individuals can learn, contribute, and thrive. With the right encouragement and understanding, even small opportunities can make a big difference.

We know that businesses across our local communities have so much to offer. By working together, we can create inclusive spaces where everyone benefits. Employers often tell us how rewarding it is to see someone grow in confidence, take pride in their work, and become a valued part of the team.

For an initial period of six weeks, businesses can offer work experience opportunities to adults with learning disabilities, supported on a one-to-one basis by a closely matched Boaz volunteer.

This is about more than placements – it’s about building confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. It can also increase employee satisfaction, build a positive profile for your business in the local press and on social media, and you will also be recognised at our regular charity events as an inclusive employer.

Could you be part of this journey?

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • An employer or business able to offer work placements in the Andover, Basingstoke, or Winchester areas
  • An adult with a learning disability interested in exploring work opportunities
  • A parent or carer of an adult with a learning disability who would like to find out more
