Boaz member Brody, 23, has achieved his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, the highest level of the DofE. He collected his award at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Prince Edward, capping a ten-year journey from Bronze to Gold.

Brody travelled to the Palace with his twin brother Roman for the ceremony. It was a proud day for Brody, his family and everyone at Boaz, and a fitting celebration of years of hard work.

Brody completed his Bronze, Silver and Gold awards over ten years with Purple Oak Support (formerly Andover & District Mencap). Sticking with a challenge for a decade takes real commitment, and Brody never gave up.

Gold is no small undertaking. Brody tackled a five-day expedition in the Peak District, twelve months of volunteering, physical activities and a residential conservation week in the New Forest.

The expedition was one of the toughest parts. Brody carried his own tent in a rucksack, camped in torrential rain and cooked Army rations in a billy can over a camp fire. Through it all, he took everything in his stride and stayed positive.

These days, Brody is a regular at The Boaz Project, where he attends two days a week. He has a simple message for anyone thinking about taking on the Duke of Edinburgh Award: “Go for it.”

What an achievement, Brody!
