Soup & Sales Tables Pull in the Pounds
St Peter’s Church’s Catholic Women’s League raised £90 for Boaz during their monthly ‘Soup & Pud’ lunch in March. Find out how the community came together to support Boaz and learn more about volunteering.
On the first Friday of each month, the Catholic Women’s League at St Peter’s Church hosts a ‘Soup & Pud’ lunch. It’s a chance to meet friends old and new in the pastoral centre. Everyone is welcome.
At the March 1 shared lunch, £90 was raised for Boaz with a further £277 donation promised. Cat Phillips, volunteer and events co-ordinator at Boaz, has thanked the “wonderful ladies” from the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) for choosing Boaz as their charity to support in March. Cat said: “To help raise awareness and some money too we organised tabletop displays to showcase some of the craft items our members make. Handmade cards sold like hot cakes, our colourful bird boxes and jams proved popular too.” Several volunteers joined Cat and helped spread the word that volunteering at Boaz is fun. New volunteers are always welcome at Boaz.
