The Boaz Open Day and Plant sale was a sweet-smelling success, making more than £3,000.

Crowds converged on Hill Farm for the popular event on a sunny afternoon in June.  Many green-fingered gardeners lined up to get first pick of the plants as well as items on the craft stalls.  Deputy Mayor of Test Valley Borough Council, Cllr Linda Lashbrook, cut the ribbon on a day filled with music, food and fun.

Young and old enjoyed tractor rides around the farm while games included hook a duck (plastic ones) and have a go catapult. Live music by the Mantons, a group of Winchester and Basingtoke medics, added to the party atmosphere. Other highlights included the opportunity to pet lambs and donkeys who live at the farm.

Appetites were running high with hundreds of burgers sold, gallons of tea served and dozens of homemade cakes sliced.  Boaz general manager Stuart Palmer said he was delighted with the turnout. “The sun making an appearance was a bonus. Boaz only works because so many people come along and give their time and energy. So from me, a massive thank you to everyone who made the day such a success.”
