In our Kitchen

Working in the kitchen

Overseen by Sally, the kitchen is the engine room of the project!  Members make jams and chutneys from fruit and vegetables that we have grown or foraged from the farm hedgerows.  They make cakes, biscuits and healthy snacks for our morning and afternoon teabreaks.  We endeavor to promote healthy eating habits and to teach basic cooking skills whilst reinforcing essential hygiene standards around food.  We are proud of our level 5 hygiene standard certificate award.  As well as making jams and chutneys to sell, we also encourage members to choose things they'd like to made to take home using many of the things we have grown in the allotment.
Our aim in the kitchen is to provide an opportunity to learn (and practice) cooking and good hygiene skills that members will continue to use when cooking at home.
